Privacy Policy

Next Time has no server, no account system and no analytics. Your lists, the places you pin them to, and your location stay on your iPhone.

We — Maestro Design & Management AB, the Swedish company that makes Next Time — never receive any of it. There is nowhere for it to be sent to. The one exception is described under Searching for a shop below, and it goes to Apple, not to us.

What the app stores on your iPhone

• Your lists — the item names you type and whether each one is checked off
• The places you pin a list to: a name, and its latitude and longitude

All of it is saved on the device by the operating system and is readable only by the app.

Location

Pinning a list to a place is optional. The app works fully without it, and it asks for location permission only at the moment you turn a place trigger on — never at launch.

If you do turn it on, the app asks for "Always" location access and uses it in exactly one way: it registers a geofence — a circle around each place you picked — and asks iOS to wake it when you cross into one. iOS does the watching; the app is not running in between.

• Your position is compared only against the places you chose yourself
• No location history, trail, or log is kept
• There is no continuous or background location tracking
• Your coordinates are never transmitted to us or to any third party

You can revoke this at any time in Settings ▸ Next Time ▸ Location. The rest of the app keeps working.

Searching for a shop

When you search for a place to pin a list to, the app uses Apple's MapKit to find it. What you type in that search box, and the map area you are looking at, are sent to Apple to return results — the same as searching in Apple Maps.

That request goes to Apple and is handled under Apple's privacy policy. It does not go to us, and we never see it. This happens only while you are actively searching for a place; nothing is sent when a list is simply triggered.

Adding items from a photo

You can add items by photographing a written list, or by choosing a photo you already have. The text is read on your iPhone by Apple's Vision framework. The photo is not uploaded anywhere, not by us and not by Apple, and the app does not keep it: once the items are on your list the image is discarded.

• The camera is used only while the scanner is open, and iOS asks your permission the first time
• Choosing an existing photo uses Apple's photo picker, which hands the app only the photos you pick. The app never has access to your library
• To read handwriting better, the app checks words against the spelling dictionaries already on your iPhone and against item names on your own lists. That happens on the device too

Siri and Shortcuts

You can start a list by asking Siri or from the Shortcuts app. Siri requests are handled by Apple under Apple's privacy policy; the app only receives the instruction to start the list.

Notifications

If you turn on a place trigger, the app asks permission to send you a notification when you arrive. These are local notifications, created and delivered on your own device. No push server is involved, and the app has no push token.

The Lock Screen

When a list is on your Lock Screen — because you tapped Shop Now, or because you arrived at a pinned place — it is shown using Apple's Live Activities, entirely on your device.

Worth knowing: anything on a Lock Screen is visible to anyone who can see your screen, without unlocking the phone. If an item name is something you would rather not have on display in a shop, don't put it on the list.

What the app never does

• No accounts, sign-up, or sign-in
• No analytics or usage tracking
• No crash reporting
• No advertising, and no advertising identifiers
• No tracking of you across other apps or websites
• No third-party SDKs — only Apple's own frameworks
• No cloud sync or backup service run by us
• No access to your contacts, microphone, or photo library. The camera is used only when you scan a list yourself
• No selling or sharing of anything, to anyone, ever

Deleting your data

Deleting the app removes your lists and pinned places along with it, and removes the geofences from iOS. There is nothing else to delete and no account to close.

Children

The app is suitable for all ages and collects nothing from anyone, including children under 13.

Changes to this policy

If a future version of the app ever collects anything, this page will be updated before that version is released, and the app's App Store privacy details will change to match.
